Whether you’re a retailer or a small business owner, here are some good tips to follow when incorporating social media into your marketing plan.
1. Differentiation
Make sure you have a clear and extremely concise point of differentiation. Make sure that your market values your position and understands why it’s important.
What is the one thing that your business offers that others don’t? What sets you apart from everyone else? Are you greener? More cutting edge and creative? Innovative? Riskier or safer? There is a long list of points you can decide upon. Be different! This is the only way your business will get attention.

2. Point of View Content
You have content. Do you have an outstanding report, whitepaper or guide that demonstrates your process and explains why you are the clear choice? Develop creative and engaging content for your product or service. It can educate those who are interested in the process you use for your own business, and teaches them how to apply it to their own. You must explain why you are the clear choice in the market.
3. PR relationships
Getting your brand featured in various media channels, through interviews, press releases or even site mentions, can help connect you to the right consumers.

4. Presentations
With the content created, you must present it to the public via publications, seminars and webinars, and even workshops. This places you in a room full of potential clients who have expressed their interest in what you do. Just by showing up, they have let you know they are ready for you.

Landing pages are a common tactic for marketers today – a focuses, engaging page with a clear call to action. Use landing pages as a form of automation to track consumers, ensuring they get to specified pages. Don’t just direct traffic to your homepage. Landing pages ensure customers get to where they want to go.
7. Business Objectives
Make a marketing plan that focuses on business objectives. Clearly identify your business goals. Have a clear understanding of your customers’ desire and problems, so you can figure out how to go on with your social media plan. You want to make sure that their experience with you brand on social media is a valuable one. Connect your customers’ desires and problems with your social media strategy.
Spending money on social media marketing can be wasted dollars without a dedicated, focused marketing plan. Create a foundation that allows you to maximize your exposure on social media channels, drawing prospects to your content and turning potential customers into repeat buyers.
