Social matters and social media continues to be all the rage in the digital sphere. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, SlideShare, Google+, Pinterest, and Foursquare are just a few of the players in social sphere.
There has been lots of progress in acceptability of social media and how businesses can use social to drive traffic. In fact just a week ago one of my prospective clients sent me a link on how social media was beginning to be considered mainstream. I don’t think we are there yet, but it’s coming, and coming fast.
In any event, here are a few pieces of information that may assist you in your decision to get talking.
Social is different than most areas of marketing, social is about discussion and interaction. Social is about relationships, engagement, and accessibility, so don’t make it all about you, your deal, or your offer. After all, nobody likes to have a one sided discussion.
Here are a few ways that you can ensure you are involved and engaged in the conversation:
1) Google Alerts
2) Twitter Search
3) Follow and engage like-minded individuals
4) Build your following by asking for the LIKE, the follow, the +1, etc.
5) Website links to your social networks
6) Spend some time each day; 15 minutes will do to start.
When we say get talking, we also mean get listening, get engaging, and most of all get human. Your company’s social media strategy has to be developed, it takes time to build a foundation, it takes time to build relationships, and it takes time build trust with those in the social sphere, 60% say, social matters.
