An entertaining presentation was delivered by Pieter Goiris, CEO of Boondoggle in Europe at the iab Canada Mixx 2010 Conference.
According to Wikipedia, the term boondoggle is a project that wastes time and money, and surely, Pieter and Boondoggle are working in opposition to this thought. They have a fantastic online presence.
Pieter’s presentation centered around an extraordinary success story on a marketing program that surrounded the Antwerp Zoo and the birth of a baby elephant. A great campaign that took off virally as well.
The success was staggering. 8,500 name suggestions, 41,000 update registrations, 850,000 unique visitors and 560,000 people watched the birth online. Staggering results on a $150,000 pound budget.
An extraordinary story, which you can find here, and a very interesting site. As your digital agency, we’d recommend you review this success story, and although these types of successes are not normal, there are times that your advertising campaign can go viral.
The right story, told the right way, will be engaging and entertaining. As your digital agency we can assist you in delivering your message.
