Blogs > Hiring – Social Media Style

An article by emarketer came out last July outlining the fact that most businesses now use Social Media for hiring. Wow! Hiring social media style? What does it mean?
The research is from Jobvite and it indicates that nearly 75% of firms were using social networks for recruiting and 58.1% claimed they had hired a candidate found through social media.
Naturally, Linkedin was the top network looked to for hiring, and 90% of those firms that had hired found their candidate on Linkedin. That really makes sense. Interestingly enough firms are recruiting on both Facebook and Twitter, although according to those surveyed these searches led to fewer hires.
I always bring you back to the words change and transition, and it seems no business has escaped the reach of social media. According to the same article, the firms negatively impacted in this new trend of social recruiting are search firms, third party recruiters and job boards.
Free as a business model again surfaces as firms gravitate to finding the best talent without making major financial investments. As with every thing online, the cost is low however, there is still a considerable time factor.
As your digital agency, we recommend that you ensure that you have your social networking profiles up to date and orderly. Remember, the reach of social media is only in its infancy. I’ve stated and will continue to re state, your digital footprint is being made with or without your input.
People and firms are looking for you out there, and will continue to do so. Your next big break will come via social media, and we urge you to keep your profiles up to date and relevant.
