Business leads, paying customers, and brand advocates all have one thing in common – they’re looking for a specific product or service to fill their needs. Offer a sample, suggest a designer, share a contact – all of these build goodwill, while allowing you a way to connect with a potential customer.
Don’t just network – reach out and engage your following. Show potential customers that your brand doesn’t simply offer just a product or service. Take an interest in your prospects – show you care and ensure you’re always first on their list to call.
Simply put, when you can prove that you’re current and knowledgeable in your field, people will seek you out for your expertise. Remember, content is king! Whether you write articles, record podcasts, shoot videos, or prepare presentations – keeping current and offering constant content will keep people coming back for more.
Contest marketing works. It’s an easy way to build a following, gain prospective consumers and allows you to capture potential customers. A properly-designed, well-run contest not only provides you with a list of interested people, but also a chance to develop brand awareness and goodwill.
Thinking local is a major factor in being found these days. Consider engaging local businesses to partner with. Working with a local charity or organizing socially responsible event is a great way to connect with participants, sponsors and the community.
It’s been said that prospecting is like dating… Get out there and do the things that you love. Be open and have fun. People will be attracted to your personality, and more open to doing business with you, or willing to refer you to someone who will.
