I do caution that you don’t get caught up in measurement and don’t get caught up in ROI, at least in initial phases. Many suggest that without ROI Social isn’t a viable platform, however, we ask, “What’s the ROI of …. “
1) Storefront signs
2) Yellow page ads
3) Printing, even business cards
4) Television ads
5) Radio ads
6) Magazine ads
7) Tradeshow booth and attendance
8) A sales call even
The point is that ROI can be overrated. We all want to know how and what to measure, but keep in mind it’s very hard to measure your brand and brand ambassadors that engage with you in the social sphere.
Measurement is only one part of the puzzle, as they say, don’t shoot the messenger.
