Coupon marketing has been around since the late 1800s and in the third of RAVEN5’s five part video and white paper series on contest marketing, the agency explores the strengths of combining this tried and true method with contest marketing efforts.

According to the Inmar 2014 Coupon Trends – 2013 Year End Report, 239 billion coupons were distributed in 2013, worth a value of $513 billion, yet less than one percent of coupons were actually redeemed. The return was in the awareness.
Coupons help to keep companies top of mind when consumers shop for products or services. They assist in increasing customer bases, building traffic and buzz, rewarding returning customers, and creating the opportunity to upsell. Contest marketing and coupons are a natural tandem, both programs build brand awareness, favourable product impressions.
