OAKVILLE, Ont. April 10, 2019 / RAVEN5 has set sail on a unique contest initiative with the innovator in cruise travel. The agency was presented with an opportunity to recognize teachers, in advance of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10, 2019), while helping to promote the launch of Norwegian Cruise Line’s 15th ship, Norwegian Joy. The Norwegian Cruise Line Giving Joy campaign was launched in March, with great success.
“We knew we had a platform that would fit nicely with Norwegian Cruise Line’s ask,” says Michael Bickerton, principal of RAVEN5 Ltd. “The cruise line originally wanted to reward 15 teachers and a plus one with a cruise, while providing one of the teacher’s school with $15 thousand USD. Our ‘submission/voting’ style fit in perfectly with the ask.”
The submission/voting platform is housed on a personalized micro-site, specific to the client. Once launched, visitors can nominate or vote for individuals they would like to recognize through the contest. The nomination is then posted publicly onto the site. The nomination can then be shared through a variety of social channels in order to gain votes, while simultaneously promoting the contest and the client. A gallery is built into the site, which gives visitors an opportunity to review nominees and to vote, even if they choose not to leave a nomination. A built-in search function allows visitors to search for individual nominees.
“After just three days, the site had received over 15,000 submissions,” notes Bickerton. “Our server has easily managed the flow from the micro-site, with nearly 45,000 submissions received to date, with over 1.3 million votes.
The RAVEN5 team monitors the activity daily, including server conditions, teacher nominations, and a dedicated Inbox for questions to teacher posts.
The campaign has been so successful, Norwegian Cruise Line responded by updating its contest, rewarding 30 with 30 gifts of joy . Additionally, the top three teachers’ schools will now receive $25,000, $15,000 and $10,000 respectively. All of the winners will be flown out to the Norwegian Joy Gala on May 3, 2019 in Seattle to accept their prizes. Each of the three grand prize winners’ school principals and superintendents will also be on hand to accept the grand prize donations.
