Seems like the news and information continue to flow when it comes to Holiday Shopping and the impact of Online Shopping and the impact of the Smartphone (that’s mobile or mcommerce to some of you).
Emarketer has released a Deloitte report and provided comment titled “Consumer Confidence is Up, Holiday Shopping On”. What’s notable and shouldn’t be too surprising if you’re following our blog is that this holiday season (2013) online shopping and mobile are the hot topics. You don’t have to be in retail to note these basic finds by Deloitte.
1) 47% expect to shop online
2) 38% expect to spend one half of their budgets online
As well, when it comes to mobile (smartphones), respondents indicated the following:
1) 56% to find store locations
2) 54% research prices
3) 47% to get product information
4) 45% shop or browse
And Social you ask, and yes I hear you, social doesn’t work in your business, but maybe these stats will give you some food for thought.
1) 45% use social to consider purchases
2) 48% research gift ideas
3) 44% look for discounts or value offerings
4) 40% read reviews
5) 37% browse products
6) 35% check out what their friends desire
The takeaway here, retailer or not, you can be sure that online is now the dominate transaction process. Keep in mind 44% of respondents indicated they would shop at a discount or value department store. Should Walmart & Target be worried?
Online, Mobile and Social – Game on.
