Blogs > Ready, Set, Blog!

As your digital agency, we recommend that you start your own blog. Writing your blog is work, takes time but can be rewarding as well. It’s interesting and can be inspiring as you create content, read and research. It can be creative as you plug in a video, add a few pictures or images … but make no mistake it takes time, and is work.
I have written previously about an audience and the size of your audience; it may be that your subject and content has the ability to attract thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, however, maybe it’s only a handful of people … does that make the effort or the subject any less relevant? The answer is a definite NO! Your content is relevant and in blogging, you get to set a digital footprint that will be around forever.
To quote Seth Godin, “Everything you do now ends up in your permanent record. The best plan is to overload Google with a long tail of good stuff and to always act as if you’re on Candid Camera because you are”. Great content has great appeal and is shared, keep your blogs short & lively (I know I’m keeping you awake). Link out on keywords, thoughts, links to other websites, blogs and other content used in your story. Adding images, photos and video always helps in keeping your reader engaged.
A few rules; Be a good citizen (be nice, be honest), respond when required to do so, respect privacy the privacy of others, remember that content lives forever (so whatever you write make sure you’re proud of it), be consistent (be it daily, weekly or monthly).
Blogging will allow you to create community, it won’t be done overnight, it takes time, patience, effort and work, so don’t jump on board unless you are ready and committed to developing your brand and your voice. Remember to always let your style, flair and personality show, after all, you are what you write.
